Front of bookThis issue was supposed to be about the heat. It turned into a love letter to the city that makes it bearable.
Accra in the hot season does not ask you to dress down. It asks you to dress smarter: cotton that breathes, prints that hold their own against the sun, colours that you can see from the other side of Kwame Nkrumah Avenue. Everything in these pages was cut, dyed or finished within a few kilometres of our studio on Oxford Street.
We spent the season in Makola, on the rocks at Labadi and in the kind of Osu bars that only open after eleven. We photographed friends, aunties and strangers who agreed to stand still for exactly one frame. Every look you see is for sale; tap the numbers on the photographs and the piece is yours.
Read it slowly. Then come and see us in Osu.
